So why are my results not showing up on the CMM website? Everybody else I know who ran has their results online. Weird.
Chips can be defective, but one of the good folks manning the HM chip mat knows me and read off my place as I ran over the mat. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the chip is not defective if it works in testing at the Expo, as mine did.
Plus I could have sworn I heard a chip beep when I crossed the starting line
If they do not find my time, I plan to send them my gps data and my photos and ask for a refund or a free entry next year. If they fail me, I will contact Adam Zocks, race director to race director. Maybe it is an anti-monkey thing.
When you run a race, the one thing you expect is a time. Shirts are nice. Medals, fluids, etc. But the run is about the time. Nothing more. I paid $100 for the time. I would like to have it...

No joke. For $100 that shirt had better have some gold threads in it. I hope they are able to figure things out. I'd be pretty upset if I were in your position.

This can in fact be a good marketing ploy for my lil marathon.

Could be great marketing strategy! I checked out the website - really nice. The pictures are amazing - truly beautiful country. Then I looked at the elevation map OWWWWW

Weird. This morning's paper has my time, but it is about 8 minutes slow (both chip and gun times are slow). The marathon website still has nothing.

I agree. Having an accurate time on an accurate course is really all I care about in a race. The rest is fluff. I will often run smaller races that do not use chip timing because you get as accurate or more accurate results and less cost and hassle. Especially if I know the timing company doing the race. There are about 5 or 6 timing co's here in New England that I feel very confident in, regardless whether they are chip timing or hand timing.
This was also frustrating for those of us stalking from home. If there were no online results tracking, fine. I would have gladly waited for the reports. But when the marathon advertises online athlete tracking and I'm trying to track three runners whom I've never met yet in whom I still feel oddly like I have some vested interest, I want to see some results dammit. It was weird too that even JK and Jeff's splits were not all recorded. Jeff had nothing before half way and JK's 20 mile split never showed up. Mickey Mouse operation this CMM!

Here is the response Elite Racing sent me today:
Thank you for your email. Our official results were not posted until 7pm on 4/28. What you were looking at were “live results” - these are not considered official and are not always correct. Please visit www.cmmarathon.com and click on “results” to view race results. If you believe there is a problem with your results, click on Submit a Correction Request. Please note that even these results are not considered “official” for 4-6 weeks to allow time for any necessary changes.
So, basically, it tells me nothing.

This was my response:
Thank you. My results are not listed in ANY of the CMM results. There seems to be no record that I ran according to CMM. My results are not on the online tracking, they are not in the cmm results lookup today, they were not printed in the local newspaper, and they are not in the results listed on marathonguide.com. Nothing. Even this morning on 4/30/2007. If you go and search by my name or bib number on the cmm website, it returns no results. I have had to spend an inordinate amount of time yesterday and today reassuring concerned friends that I am okay and that in fact I did run. I did submit a correction request, but wonder why for $90 registration I got NO results and have to spend all this energy just to get a time reported.
I have GPS data, numerous witnesses on the course and photos should be coming. Do I need to submit all that to you?

Yeah, I'm still not impressed with Elite Racing.
They did the Philly Distance Run last year, which was the first time they managed it. I talked to people who had run it before, and they said it was night and day compared to past years.

Trent, that is super shitty. For what you guys paid for that race registration they should be bending over backwards to make things right.

Feel free to give them my name. Considering where I saw you on the course, it's not like you could have taken any shortcuts. Shortest way home from Shelby Park is the finish line.
I always wondered if they had chip screw-ups. Now I know. It does seem like it'd be simple for one of the volunteers to just drop it or something.
I wonder if the photo company (ASI? Something like that?) will e-mail you your finish line shot. That's some pretty good evidence you were at the, you know, finish line.
Unless these people were on the OJ jury. Then you're screwed.

That's a good point--if the finish line shot shows the clock, then that should be all the proof you need. Though I do have Photoshop if you'd like for your time to be even better...

Elite racing responded to my response:

You will notice that their second response is IDENTICAL to the first response. Here is how I replied this time.
Again, thank you. As I stated in my response before, I have done this. I note that your second response is an impersonal exact duplicate of the first response. For the $90 I paid, I would expect much more personal attention to this issue. Would it be better for me to contact Mr. Zocks directly?
Thanks for your help
Trent
Mr. Zocks, of course, is the RD. I can get his phone and email via channels I have
About the finish line photos, I can always refer Elite racing to the finish line photos and video available from the official photographers. Those are from a third party and presumably photoshop-free.
