Greetings, runners! Please tell us about your past training week and upcoming goals.
Mon 0Tue 0Wed 5.8mi (0:51) tmThu 0Fri 0Sat 26.2mi (3:31) Mesa marathonSun 0marathon week. the weather was unusual for Arizona, 43 degrees and rain. I got my B goal of sub-3:35, but I didn't get my A goal of sub-3:30. The official time was something like 3:30:55. The 3:30 pace group passed me on mile 25, so it was very close
I had a couple of local friends run the Mesa Marathon also and was surprised when I saw their pics and their running attire! Not the shorts/short sleeves I would have expected!that's a very nice marathon time Alexander! congratulationsI didn't get much running in last week. My father passed on last Tuesday, 2/6, so it's really been, and will likely continue to be, a rollercoaster of emotions. just emotionally exhausted some days.
Thurs: 7.2 miles
Sat: 10 mile trail run
total: 17.2 miles
Still had a little bit over what my 50 mile training plan had me doing for the week though but the runs in that plan are all shorter at this time - 3 miles here, 6 miles there. so it's like my 2 days of running came fairly close to the 4 days of running that plan called for. At least I don't feel behind. yet. This week should be a better running week for me. I've already gotten in 2 runs and it's only Wednesday, so I feel ahead of the game.

Alexander - Congrats on the B goal and getting so close to the A goal even in the rain.
Tammy - I guess you're a couple weeks behind me on the grief curve. It will get better, though probably not as fast as you'd wish.
The highlight of my week was a 10 mile race. When I signed up, back in December, I figured it would be an easy PR since my 10-mile best is an old, and low-hanging fruit. Then my training went to pot and on top if it the course was challenging in terms of hills. I still got a PR, but not by much, but that just means if I can find another 10-mile race I'll have a good shot at low-hanging fruit again.
My running has been slow, especially on hills were I haven't been able to keep my race pace going. I'm beginning to realize just how much weekly track sessions were helping me now that I've only done 1 in the past 5 weeks and just 5 this cycle vs. what normally would have been 12 by now. Take away those workouts and replace them with easy runs and I see what they were worth to me in the past.
The rest of the week was easy runs. Tuesday was planned to be track work but neither my RP nor I felt like it (he's dealing with work issues and I'm still up and down, emotionally), so we just went for a run on the fast side of easy. Getting out there and running was accomplishment enough for me. 35.4 miles / 57.0km

Tammy thanks! I heard it's a fast course and the weather is usually great too, so when I found myself running uphill at some point, against the wind and in the cold rain I was, like, well, this is not exactly what I expected! Overall the course is nice though and likely fast on a better day
Fred, thank you! Congrats on the 10 mile PR! Are you considering the Bronx 10 miler in September? I hear it is already almost full. In Philadelphia there is a fast 10 miler ... Broad Street? I heard it's very fast.
