      Sun 13.3mi (1:35) NYC half

      Total: 55 miles.

the weather was nice all week, so zero treadmill. also, enjoyed the half marathon on Sunday, perfect weather, great views of the city. I didn't get my A goal of sub-1:35, but got a few seconds under 1:36, which was my B goal.

congrats on the HM results, even though it wasn't your A goal, that's a pretty darn impressive time!  And yay on zero TM miles!  Glad your weather was nice.

        Last week:

        Tues: 3.7 miles

        Wed: 7.5 miles

        Fri: 4 miles

        Sat: 18 trail miles

        (Sun: 2.7 walking)

        total: 33.2

I went to a flat trail on Saturday in hopes for an easier run. But it was anything but. That is several long runs now that have been difficult for me - both mentally and physically. Which has sort of solidified my decision to not run a 50 miler this summer. I just don't think I want it bad enough to continue to put in the work to get up to that distance.  Doing long runs lately has felt like something I "have" to do, and not something I "want" to do. It's taken the joy out of running for me, so it's time to reset I think.

This is a cut back week for me so my only goal really is to still hit green (24 miles) for game purposes.

Alexander - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the half.  Sometimes that's better than hitting a time goal.

Tammy - I've been having similar issues the past two months:  just not having the mental desire or ability to do hard stuff, be it fast runs or long, easy runs.  Don't be hard on yourself.

ParkRun went well for me - faster than the one just two weeks ago and 16 seconds off my best there from December.

          29.1 miles last week.

Tammy, I agree, enjoying your runs is an absolute key to everything. If you have to force yourself it is just not going to be sustainable in the long run. Very strong week by the way, well above your goal and that 18 miler on trails is impressive.

Fred, yes, after racing in cold rain earlier this year the weather for the NYC half was nearly perfect and everything went very smoothly. Manhattan bridge climb was not easy, but the view from the top was great. And even the final part in Central park was ok, somehow I forgot to check the course map and I was expecting to deal with more hills in the park.
