      Wed 8.2mi (1:16) tm
      Thu 7.6mi (1:05) tm
      Fri 8.3mi (1:07) tm
      Sat 8.3mi (1:39)
      Sun 8.8mi (1:41)

      Total: 57.5 miles

only two outdoor runs. it was a bit cold on both days, but I really enjoyed being outside, with the sun and the ocean breeze. I am getting seriously tired of treadmill; it's great to have that option, but 6 days in a row (with previous Sunday) was just too much

        I got 13 miles in 3 sessions.

My goals include not having MCL pain in the near future.

Alexander - Nice week of running and good to hear you enjoyed getting outside.  Looks like you're recovering quickly.

Tammy - I concur with Alexander that if you're training for a 50, then 28 is a good option.

Bill - I wish you luck with the MCL.  As I get older, I wonder if there is such a thing as running without pain (or at least without some sort of ache).

The 42.6 miles I ran were my highest weekly total since the marathon last fall.  My pace run went well once my RP & worked out a few hill issues and my long run was the best HM long run workout I've had in close to a year.  With two weeks to go until the first of two halves this spring, I hope it's not too little too late.  I'll just stay optimistic.  Sunday's run was short, but I had the company of my 17-year-old the whole time, so that was worth it.

Thanks for boosting my confidence that I can run a 28 mile trail run. Minor correction to Alexander though - I have not been regularly running 20 mile trail runs. The longest I've run this year on trails with a fair amount of climbing is 10ish. I did run 13.3 last weekend but it was roads. Although for the trail run I'm contemplating, it's flat as far as trails go, so even long runs on roads is probably adequate prep. Down to only 13 spots left in the race, so I gotta register today and I'm going for that "28 mile marathon" run.  I fully intend on walking parts and use it as 'time on feet' training as well.   I penciled in the progression of my long runs leading up to the race w/o too big of a jump in mileage and I can get in a long of 22 two weeks prior to the race, so I feel that is a good enough long run to get under my belt to then be ready for a 28 miler.

            Last week:

            Wed: 6.1 miles

            Thurs: 7 miles

            Sat: 13.3 miles

            TOTAL: 26.4

This week I'm aiming for around 30ish miles. Rain and snow mix in the forecast all week, so where I can get in the running might be a challenge. I see some TM runs happening.

Bill, I wish you a speedy recovery from MCL issues. I would definitely ice it all the time to reduce the inflammation.

Fred, great to see you again in the over 40 mile territory and nice HM long run workout! Also great to run with your 17 year old, my 16 y.o.  daughter now always runs separately from me even when we have a chance to run together, probably I am just too embarrassing or something like that. When she was younger we did some short runs together, but that was a long time ago.

Tammy, correction noted! You are doing a lot of long runs in training, and many of them are on trails, that is the general impression that I get from your training weeks, but maybe it was not recent. And this week you did a 13 miler, which is a good solid long run I would say, but maybe not quite the same as 20 miles. Great to hear that you decided to go for a 28 mile "marathon" (actually, an ultra), I hope you have a great race/training run!
