Marathon, the ultimate training guide - Hal Higdon (Read 342 times)

Along for the Ride

Nice read! Hal Higdon is a no-nonsense runner. He outlines proven strategies in his book. There is not too much scientific information. It sounds to me that he found a lot by trial and error over the years. He is and was a great runner! His way of showing running as a sport for everyone - as opposed to 'marathon's are only for the elite runners' is very refreshing.

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.

This was the first running book that I read and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the motivation I needed to progress from a 5 mile "long run" to running a half marathon this past May and then signing up for and starting training for my first marathon this October.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
