30 mph winds and 40 degrees. Miserable weather so I had no expectations for time. The good news was when the gun went off a guy took the lead and wasn't looking back. I ran with Andy Ames for the next 3 miles. Mile 1 we went through at 6:00 because of the horrible headwind. Mile 2 I tried to push but it was with the wind so I knew it would be fast. 10:59 for 2. Split a sub 5 second mile. Andy wasn't being dropped. We kept battle back and forth until the uphill. I tried to push since I knew it was decently downhill after that. I got to the top of the hill exhausted but put a move anyway on him. I figured I could outkick him and the end but I wanted to get away from him just in case. By mile 3 at 16:30 I had put a few seconds on him. I fought in and ended 2nd overall and put 20 seconds on him Faster than last year in worse weather. It felt good to race again.
