ate buttered toast for breakfast three and half hours before race; worked on pacing for upcoming marathon; attempted to start at 8:00/mile pace and maintain that thru halfway and then increase pace; started slower than desired but maintained pace; started increasing earlier but remained controlled; mile 5 to 6 was slow for some reason--no idea why (other than one water stop and one uphill--the first since the first mile); sprinted the final stretch from the warning track in left field to next to home plate; not passed by anyone in the last 3.5 miles of the race (other than one brief pass on the uphill during mile 5 to 6--re-passed that runner immediately after the hill); my watch time was approximately 1:00:56 (didn't stop my watch immediately at finish line--didn't stop watch til finished slowing down after final sprint)
