Notes

I run early morning in a forested area mostly on narrow rural roads crisscrossing the area. During my early morning run I do not see any cars here, since they opened up a new road to the highway. On workdays, a cyclist or two, maybe three, probably two dog walkers and a girl doing her morning walk. On weekends, none of that unless I'm late getting out the door (after 6h30).

When I saw the head lights of the first car I was instantly annoyed because I now had to deviate from my planned route. I turned left instead of what I had planned. Once the car passed I turned round and continued on the planned route. However, soon after a car came from behind and I had to stop running to make sure Chewie was save. The car passed, but a little further down the road it stopped and waited, drove a little, then waited again... Alarm bells went off in my head. So turned my back light and head lamp off and went back the way I came running as fast as I could to get off this road.

Chewie is a big dog (Bouvier). Unfortunately in this instance, he doesn't display any protective behaviour (yet). And whatever that driver was doing may be very innocent, but let's just say better save then sorry.

Which made me rethink my running. Run in the early morning, in the dark, in a deserted area?
