2x 3mile @MP w/half mile jog+ mile to finish. We had to stagger the group on the treadmill at Richey's office this morning since things were super icy, it would have been dangerous to even try to run pace outside. I had mentally prepared for things to feel a lot harder than the pace would reflect. I was able to do a few strides on the belt after Willie finished up and noticed that I was feeling relatively bouncy. Started a little slower than MP then Richey gave me the green light to drop it down as I felt. 5:08.9, 5:04.3, 5:02.1 (15:15.3). I maintained a strong stride throughout and Richey remarked that I looked comfortable; reinforcing that my internal effort was being accurately reflected in my mechanics. Set out on the following 3 mile and started where I had left off of the first. However, I noticed that I was working a little harder to maintain that 5:02 rhythm so I held it until the last mile instead of cutting down more. While I wasn't exactly flowing at 5:00 it didn't feel any harder. 5:01.8, 5:02.6, 4:59.9 (15:04.3). Instead of blasting the last mile, I started at MP and cut down every quarter mile and while the end result wasn't great I finished feeling awesome. 4:58.2. I am so ready to race!
