15x1' strong-1' easy. Pretty basic fartlek this morning but I wanted to make it count for all it was worth. I set this small goal for myself where I want to be able to keep all of my fartlek on-paces under 5:00 pace (for the avg.) but also not look at my watch to check on my speed. I maintained a strong but comfortable rhythm for the first 3-4 as I headed towards S Boulder Rd and really maintained that feeling of control until about #8 when I got onto the gaptar loop. I wasn't straining but I could tell that I needed to insert a little more effort. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was running faster in the second half and managed to hit my sub-5 goal for the avg. (4:55/mi). 5:08/6:15, 4:56/6:20, 5:01/6:14, 4:58/6:35, 5:01/5:47, 5:06/6:07, 4:51/6:00, 4:48/6:08, 4:43/6:15, 4:56/6:38, 4:54/6:31, 4:53/6:28, 4:57/6:30, 4:52/6:34, 4:51/6:50. Obviously the paces are to be taken with a grain of salt since the reps were so short, but this was a nice solid day and it was good to see the recoveries getting faster than last time! (3x leg circuit)
