FORTitude 10k w/first 4 @5:20-25+hard close. Going into a race setting with a workout mindset is always a little strange and having to hold back and not get carried away at the start was challenging. I was out around 5:07 pace through the first half mile so I started to cruise a bit more a that slow down inadvertently caused me to over correct in the second mile. I spent most of the run thinking about keeping it smooth and biding my time until the final push. I let myself get rolling a little more halfway through the 4th mile so I wouldn't have an abrupt change in pace I felt strong as I picked it up from 5:20s down to sub 4:50 pace. I settled in about a k in and was happy with a sub 5 but I was also not quite strong enough to carry it for the entire 2.2 remainder. My last full mile was still my second fastest of the morning but I was not feeling great after 9k. Good productive morning for a workout, it would have been interesting to see where this day would have been for a true race effort with where I'm at in terms of fitness because the weather was perfect and the course was forgiving.
