tough day out on the gravel roads. ran with the group that didnt race yesterday so they were looking to go a little faster. i was fine with it at the beginning and even up to the turn around point. a cramp, probably from dehydration, hit me hard at 6.5 and i tried to stretch it out as the guys took a pee break. but when we got back to running it only got worse and worse. it was a lot like the side pain i had during nationals last fall only lower in my abdomin. i finally just let them go and stopped to try to stretch it out for a few minutes. even after that it still nagged pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as when i was going down hill. took at least 2 more stretching breaks but in the last 3 miles it wasnt getting any worse so i pressed on the gas a little bit and got rolling. it sucked running faster on the gravel because i was slipping but i was determined to catch back up to the group i was with. i closed hard and actually caught them with a half mile to go.
