Pre-Meet Workout: Mile @4:35-40+1000m @2:50-52+800m @2:15+ 400 @62 w/3' rest. Frank, Jen and I went early to get it in before we'd get kicked off the middle school track by the PE classes. Unfortunately we didn't go early enough to beat the wind, although 10mph with strong gusts was much preferable to the 20mph sustained and 50mph gusts. I ran the mile in my Hoka Rocket X and the rest in the Dragonfly. I didn't think I'd actually hit the goal pace because of the wind, but I ran very consistent splits of 69, 2:19, 3:28 and finishing in 4:37.8. the rest felt short but knowing it was a short workout, things were fine. I got out hot on the 1k, getting sucked into Franks 800 pace. I had some issues moderating the pace but ran 2:51.7. the 800 was just a touch faster and it felt like the last rep that would be a real effort. I even split 67s to 2:14.2. The 400 was a nice blow out without any strain; 61.5. Texas here I come!
