8x3' on-2' off. I slept for about 11 hours last night but the nyquil left me hazy and my throat is still raw. I decided to attempt the workout on my own to keep my distance from the team and give myself the flexibility to pull the plug whenever I needed it. Ran up Monarch to Kara Loop, stopped and did my drills, and started the workout. I thought it would be too demoralizing to monitor the pace given my rubbery feeling legs so I vowed to not look at the watch. The first 4 reps were net up hill as I looped my way to Neva Rd. I wanted to give myself the most forgiving route option and finally got to reap that choice in the second half. I got to bomb down Neva for the last 4 reps, but it wasn't all smooth sailing as my breathing tightened during the 6th rep and I had to back off slightly to regain my composure. I successfully ignored my watch, just waiting for it to tell me when to speed up or slow down. The end result was solid, mainly thanks to the downhill finish, and I was left feeling pretty decent about the effort. I couldn't ask for much more running hard with an ailing body. I'm hoping this is a short lived sickness and I can get back to work this weekend. 5:16/6:25, 5:30/6:23, 5:20/6:04, 5:11/6:09, 4:55/6:02, 5:04/5:59, 4:53/6:03, 5:04/6:03. (5:09 on, 6:09 off avg.)
