The Michigan. 2k-Mile-1200-800-400 w/ mile @ MP between, 40" rec between reps & tempos. A lot went wrong today and some of it i had control of but chose a negative path. Warmed up at the U of I track but when I got back the soccer team was doing practice and there were a lot of people just standing in lane one. Took to the roads after debating about driving to Urbana. Watch was about to die so I turned off the auto-lap and my HR. I was pissed about not being able to get on the track because i knew pacing would be a lot more sporatic. Ran the first 2k strong (6:10) and things didnt seem so bad, even ran a good mile tempo (5:18). Took a slightly different route on the Club Loop which had a short but steep hill right before the end of the loop. that hill killed my next mile, I charged up it and then tried to get a decent time in. 4:56. The next tempo piece was uncomfortable but still time wise where it should have been (5:18). the following 1200 was my demise. I had to climb up Lincoln, it was a 26 ft gain w/ 0 descent. miserable 3:53. My legs were heavy and my back was starting to rig as I tried to keep pace on the uphill. jogs got slower over the course of the workout. I started slowing on the tempo as well, 5:23. wanted to re-engage on the 800 but with a 200 uphill at the end and a bad mindset I was just spinning my wheels. 2:26. the next was pathetic, I started to cramp and had to run the majority on the gradual climb of lincoln ave. 5:38. just glad the end was near i ran 69 sec for the last 400. disappointed that I cant seem to get this workout right. I think with all of the travel and the lack of routine the writiing may have been on the wall. got it done and will be moving on.
