Redemption! 1st with a time 33 seconds faster than last year on the same course. Beat a really nice Augustana guy who had run in the 25:30s this cross season and another nice uw-whitewater guy who ran 1:53 and was around 26:00 at oshkosh. Might not mean anything, but still felt good. In true turkey trot fashion I was rewarded with a turkey, plaque, and asics half zip for my efforts. As for the race itself, I felt pretty good. Everyone went out hard off the line and I just focused on getting up to the augie guy by the mile, which I did successfully as we came through together in 5:06ish. I put in a small surge right after the mile but it turned out to be enough to get the job done. Hit 2 in 10:20 with a 5 second lead and held it together over the hilly last mile well enough to hold on. Forgot to yell "gobble gobble motherfuckers" as I crossed the line. Damn.
