Notes

I finally went to Seacoast Ortho in Somersworth on Wednesday. Even though I’ve been describing my issue as hip pain it apparently is more of a lower back issue. Not sure if this sciatic related or not but there was no mention of it. They took x-rays of my back and hip, and it appears that there is no structural damage which is obviously good. In looking at my spine there is a noticeable different in the “holes” in my back next to my vertebrae at the base of my spine. It’s hard to describe but the other parts of my spine have this very circular type which is the sign of a healthy spine. The very last part of the spine the “hole” seems to be less open and constricted. The thought by the PA was that this could very likely be an irritant that is causing the discomfort. I am seeing a specific PT named Brian Donahue on Monday who specializes in dealing with running injuries. Since I have no eminent race this fall getting back on track seems to be less complicated and I would be fine with not running the rest of the year if that gets me healthy once and for all. The morning strength class at the Y should help my and overall strength and I’m hoping I can continue the class while I go to PT. Not sure if the bike is the right way to go or not but will determine what I can and can’t once I meet with the PT.
