Pretty good club run. I've been noticing that the muscles around my right shin tend to cramp on group runs, but I couldn't figure out why. I realized today that I start out too quickly when running with the group. The pace feels easy, but the muscles around my shins don't seem strong enough. I slowed down during miles 2 and 3, but my pace doesn't seem to reflect that. The muscle cramps went away around this time. Mile 4 started with a big, long hill, which slowed me down a bit. I seemed to have rocketed through the last mile even though, again, it felt easy. I finished 0.03 miles short. *sad face*
I learned two things from this run:
1) If I take the time to properly warm up, then I am capable of a sub 9 "easy" pace. Wow!
2) I should probably start strengthening my shin muscles - as well as my core, etc - but I will wait until after my half. It would do more harm than good at this point.
