Notes

paid special attention to hydration in the day and night before. Used camel back (drank about 40 oz plus water at aid stations) and Brooks shoes for 1st half then changed to handheld and old montrail shoes for the 2nd half. It started raining about 3/4 of the way through the 1st half. Used KT tape to tape large and small toe on left foot. Big toe was fine, small toe came off when feet got wet

Took pre race pack of supplements and then a gel on the 60 mins and a salt tab on the 30 mins. Was considering dropping out after the 1st loop due to lightening, I felt OK but worn down. Sally came through the aid station as I was changing shoes/socks and convinced me to go on. At about mile 18 started to get a cramp in right quad, took a salt tab. Then at about mile 20 the tape on my left small toe came off and there was as tick in my sock irritating my toe. Stopped to take care of it. It was very hard to get comfortable after that. We ended up walking most of the rest of the way. Cramp finally started to go away after eating a pickle and having some Mt Dew

probably went out too fast and I should have mixed my perpetiuum stronger and had more to refill my bottle with at the remote aid stations

For Ice age use camel back for at least the first 13 miles to horsemans camp due to rocky surfaces. Switch to handheld for remainder and be sure to have refill powder for aid station refills. Carry at least 10 salt tabs and 6 gels.
