Nice day - felt ready, good sleep and breakfast (8:34, 8:36, 8:40, 8:34, 8:40, 8:40, 8:51, 8:49, 8:48, 8:46, started to feel some hint of knotting 9:11, 9:02, twinges started to become more pronounced 9:31, tried to work past this 9:17, something was definitely going wrong and cramping started to get worse, 10:22, started to labor, 10:41, 12:43 really started tightening up had to walk a couple of times,13:17 really started getting bad and had to walk a few times - got bottled water from Deb - drank it down 15:46, tried to walk with longer strides mixed with some running, 15:21 knew I was really in trouble - walked quite a bit,16:55 - walked a lot, tried to run but started cramping up immediately - mostly walked, 17:43 mostly walked - took another bottle of water from Deb and drank it down, started trying to run again - couldn't sustain a pace - 12:48 walk/run, 13:34, had to walk more again 14:20, 12:15 - was able to run a bit more, 8:23 - kicked going into the dome and cramped up at the finish line. Worst run ever! Didn't realize it until after the race and reflecting that I didn't hydrate well at all at the water stops for the first 10 mi. and was only taking 1/2 a GU at 3, 6, 9. Took half a GU at 12, 15, and 18. Didn't take any GU after this because I was walking so much. Hydrating while walking (the two bottles of water and hydrating better at the water stops I think really helped). I hadn't factored in the temp - it was quite hot. Lesson learned - Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! and notch it up on the GU earlier on.
