I dropped the rental car off & road back.
It was drizzling right as I dropped the car off & I had fears I'd get soaked, but it was OK. I managed to forget to ditch my sandals before leaving home, so I had to stash them in my jersey back pockets. They ended up not being an issue, but I'm sure they looked super goofy.
The area the rental place is in is kinda busy & I wasn't thrilled with the first mile out of there, but after that I was fine. I did get passed by a guy on a bike while in the bike lane in OP & he scarred the heck out of me. It kinda felt bad to be moving so slow, but I also didn't care too much.
