Philadelphia marathon!!! I was really happy with this race. I felt relaxed and happy for most of the race, and I was glad that I did not go out too fast! It seems that I probably could have gone out a little slower since I still slowed down at the end, but I was feeling anxious about making sure I hit the time. It was a really enjoyable marathon experience overall and makes me feel much more positive about them going forward (I felt so destroyed at the end of my last two Bostons). It was the best I've felt in a marathon, next to the 2012 trials. The toughest part was the last few miles into a slight headwind. I hope to get stronger and be able to hang on better in the future. I am so thrilled to have qualified for the trials, which was my number 1 goal (in addition to having a solid race). I feel I'm now completely back from taking lots of time off in 2013, and now I am hoping for a half PR in 2015 and a marathon PR in 2015 or at the trials in 2016.

It was SO FUN seeing Steve's family and so many friends from Williams and Penn State both out on the course running and cheering. It meant a lot and made it really special. I was especially happy for Rachel, who ran a huge PR and an amazingly well-executed race.

I was also excited to come in 2nd place and pass a few women at the end of the race to get there, but that was a secondary goal!

My hip and hamstring were a bit tight (as they had been this week), but it wasn't too noticeable. My foot was hurting towards the end but I don't think it was really affecting my race; it definitely felt worse in workouts.

I liked the course for the most part. As I read in the reviews, the second half was tough because it was quite empty of people cheering. There were definitely some ups and downs, but my least favorite part was this bridge crossing across mile 17 or 18. I felt I got out of my rhythm there a little bit, but was glad I was able to stay calm and trust that I could get back to my pace. In general I was happy that I stayed calm and collected during this race!

I was so thrilled with the weather! (Except for the wind at the end). It was amazing and I could not have asked for anything better!

I'm so excited for 2015! Next steps, healing my foot and getting better at short stuff! This race renewed my love of racing and I am psyched!
