A fantastic race in regards to effort and pushing through. With a lofty plan of sub 2:50 I went out at a comfortable and controlled pace for the first half. Then realized it wasn't going to happen so I focused on a PR. At the 17 mile mark with cramping quads it turned in to staying in the race and trying for sub 3. Really had to push it. Ate three gels and a few oranges, two salt tabs at 17, and mostly water with a few Gatorade's. In retrospect focusing on the numbers and having a plan of under 6:30's was okay but a more conservative plan might've been better. However I'm not sure how many more marathon's I'm going to do and most likely will never do Boston again. So I wanted to put it all out there and see what I had and what was possible. Really glad I didn't hold back and play a safe game. I wasn't thinking that during the last 10k though...
