Notes

Bowfell w STWJ. In Firgarth because T&W have just finished their exams. Parked at Dungeon Ghyll - the Band - down Hell Ghyll. Damp to start with, but clouds cleared (good views) and sunny by the end.

Quite a lot going on!

- Fell race setting up at the base of the Band (some vast Great Lakes event to Scafell Pike etc)

- A friendly little black dog adopted us as we climbed. To begin with, this was endearing. What a shame that its owners were about to come over the horizon at any moment and call him back! They never appeared, however, so after some sheep-chasing I took the dog virtually down to the bottom of the mountain to try to find some other humans to take it on.

- Bumped into one of J's leaders from Pooley Bridge as well. Somewhat of a harbinger, but he was off to do the Climbers' Traverse off on the right before the top.

T&W swam in a cold river near the base of HG. There are some stunning spots there. Best of all is probably to head up that way, follow the very first path off to the right along the stream - amazing plunge pools below waterfalls.
