w J: from Firgarth to Grasmere for lunch and back. Up by Meg's Gill and followed a dryish stream bed left and up on to the tops; came down towards Lion & Lamb. Back more direct route up the path up from the Red Bank road.
Ate outside at the garden centre ... watched by eager jackdaws which took a lot of food as soon as each table emptied. Saw mum at Gilbert Scar in the afternoon.
