Headed to 5th ave S for GCR Turkey trot at around 5:45 with Devin. She and I walked to start to get the pins the volunteer neglected to give me at packet pick up, then we went back to the office to get ready to run. As we jogged east on 5th, we saw Paul and Caroline and the Russos. Caroline, Devin and I started out on a wu, but I told them to go ahead as they were too fast for me. As for the race, I DNF'd after I saw 6:45 on my watch at the mile mark (somewhat attributable to the huge crowd at the start that boxed me in for the first 1/4) and that I could not close any ground on the woman ahead of me, who although a little younger than me was running with a limp ( not attributable to the huge crowd), and I realized I'd rather cheer Devin on the home stretch than put another 20:45 in my record book. So I pulled the pin and jogged to the 3 mile mark to watch Devin finish. She took third after a super star from university of alabama's xc team and an xc coach from indiana a few years removed from running xc and track at FSU.
