That may have been a mistake. Because some of my running idols swear by doing at least 2x2 hour runs per week, I decided I would add one tonight instead of doing speed work. That was easily one of the worst and most painful runs I have ever had, at least since the death march known as the marathon of the palm beaches in 2007. The last few miles tonight felt oddly similar to that 2007 race. I knew it would be tougher than usual as soon as I stepped off, The weather reverted to july hot, I didn't really eat too well today, I have 45 or something miles already logged this week, including 4 this morning, coupled with 73 for last week. So all systems felt bad from the get go, legs, gut (burning fat from step one, no glycogen in this body), heart rate. Turned the first 5.53 in 48:57 for an 8:52 pace, which wasn't too bad considering, things got worse. i must have stopped six times over the last seven miles, the first two just to catch my breath, the others cause I just didn't feel I could run anymore. i mean, I never do that. I also stated getting tunnel vision around mile 8, so I walked for a bit. I never do that either. One other contributing factor, i may be getting sick as I had some weird ear pressure clogginess that was very uncomfortable. Oh yeah, right shoe filled with blood from a couple of blisters, although this is not unexpected from week old shoes.

Good news, no left foot pain and, although not sure this qualifies as good, stepped on the scale when I got home, 173.6. 173.6!!! wtf, i weighed 183 this morning and I had a tall boy natty light driving home.

Ps. This puts me over 250 for the month, most ever.

MTA, realized sunday that I made a protein shake with Peter's veggy protein and took an energy pill before the run, one of those two things must have f'd me up.
