Easy warm-up at Lake Galena loop with the Scalawag before tearing off on a 10K HMP pace loop. First time breaking in the red/yellow split flats with matching flame socks! Shoes and socks looked and felt great - same feeling of contact with the road and highly perceptive road feel. Course ran tough today with a 20-25 mph wind over the backstretch (~1.5 miles) and various parts of the course. Overall 10K time was better than a few weeks ago, and started out right in the HMP groove. Pace fell a little over the last 3 miles due to hilly section of the course combined with stiff winds, never stopped working it hard today. Likely should have hit a gel around mile 3-4, but decided to burn it out the best I could. The early taper weeks are definitely helping and my legs are starting to respond. I can't wait to race in two weeks - I hope it all comes together!
