Since my Garmin doubles as my bike computer, I had HR info from the bike but for anything shorter than a Half, I don't like to mess with it for the race, find it can be a distraction and I'd rather go based on feel. The bike course had some false flats and it was a little windy. On the first loop my legs felt a little sluggish and heavy but once they warmed up I found a good rhythm. Mainly passed guys on the bike but did pass 2 women. This would have been a great course for my disc but since I'm using my 808's for LP, I decided to use those to get more practice. I learned from Marble Falls and kept a bottle of water in transition so I could take 2 salt tabs before headuing out on the run. It was warm but we got lucky that the temps weren't higher because there was NO shade on the run. We did get a breeze off the lake for some stretches of the course. At the beginning of the run, I was having a hard time catching my breath - am guessing it was the adrenaline. I settled down about a mile in. This may be the first time during a race I was able to set my sights on some female competitors ahead of me and overtake them and it was FUN (especially since 2 of the girls I ran down were Loncar) For the most part, I felt good on the run. I was working hard but the IT band and hips felt good.
