Well, the first step caused a major problem with my upper right quad. I couldn't put any weight on it without major pain. I jogged for about a half a mile (8-9 minute pace) trying to loosen it up. I figured if it did I could race, if it didn't I'd have to step off. I drove all the way to Helena to race, not step off. Gradually, it loosened enough to get the pace down to the 6's. I was able to press my way to a 7ish first mile, and I was way behind. Then I started rolling. The second mile was in 6:09, and the third was 6:00. I couldn't catch up enough, but at least I was able to race. Final time was 20:09, I figured without the incident, it would have been about 2 minutes faster. Oh well.
