Ya girl loves MUD!
CHICKS, WE DID IT!! TEAM CHAMPS. AWOOOOOOO!!!!
Okay, time to actually log! It was fun! Wow! And incredibly difficult. I was fighting the course, which was a mud pit, as well as Kassie R, who is a really tough competitor. She got out a little harder than me, and when I caught up with her (about 200m in), she stopped dead in her tracks so that she could sit on me. Kind of annoying, but I'm used to leading and grinding on my own, so it was whatever. It was also really easy to predict where and when she would surge-- on the parts of the course that were firm enough that you could move. a little. We were back and forth a little, but it was mostly me leading with Kassie breathing in my ear. I matched her moves. I took control. Apparently once I pulled ahead for the last loop (500m), I broke her. Coach told me that she crossed the finish line crying and I said, "YOu hate to see it," and I kind of feel bad, but not really. Losing is part of racing. Luckily for me, so is winning! I feel so blessed to have been able to have such fun in the mud today! Probably the hardest 19:18 I've run in my life.
I might have to add a couple of bricks to my house of confidence for this one.
