Notes

My problem is patience. I am not a long distance runner. These long slow runs kill me mentally. I like speed, I like a quick turnover, I like it when my lungs burn. I like when it's over in an hour or less. Aside from that this run went really well. I took it out slow and easy keeping my heart rate under 145 for the first 5.5 mile loop. I then turned around and ran the loop backwards and it was strange how my legs seemed to "wake up" after that fifth mile. I felt really good so I kicked it up a little the second half.

No knee pain this run, which is a relief, legs felt good. My right shoulder got a little sore at the 7.45 mark moderate pain but it worked itself out by 8. Not sure what causes that, but I tend to get it a lot on long runs. It works itself out after a half mile or so. I ran out at Springbrook in Naperville, my first time there. I must admit I'm pretty spoiled by the 16 mile loop around my house. Springbrook has too much dog poop and not enough scenery changes and is only 5.5 miles. The crushed limestone is forgiving to the joints. It's wide, safe and only 2 street crosses with good pedestrian walk signals. For Illinois it has some good elevation changes. It's not hilly but it's not completely flat either. It has some short steep climbs and some long gradual inclines.

Now I gotta rest up and hope I can run well at the Harvest 5K tomorrow. Good PR weather forecast not sure if the body will be ready by then.
