Warm-Up and Cool Down for All-American made up about 4 miles of this run. The other 8 miles were shared with the one and only emma spoon on the wonderful rolling trails of Van Peenen. What a fantastic afternoon with incredible company :) Thanks Spooner.
The temperature could not have been more perfect, the light and the scenery was spectacular, and despite tired legs the trails were calling and I never wanted to stop. I legitimately think I could have stayed up there for another 6 or 7 miles and never wanted to leave. My smile never left my face, and I wish I could have frozen that afternoon in space and time and lived in those moments forever. There is something truly magical about the hills and bluffs of this town with your favorite people in the world. I think when I leave this place that is what I will miss the most. Even miles and miles away, and years down the road, I sincerely think a part of my heart and a part of my happiness will always lie in the driftless region, in a tiny slice of heaven called Decorah Iowa.
The only way the afternoon could have been improved is if Brenna had also been with us. We were missing our third musketeer, the third explorer in our trio. I could run and laugh in the hills of Decorah with Emma Spoon and Brenna Gibbons forever.
