A early morning 5 mile run turned into 6. I had only planned on doing 5, but at the 4 mile mark was feeling pretty good and changed up my route to do 6 instead.
I intentionally tried to keep an easier pace and not push too hard. That worked until the last mile when I was running down the road across from a guy who was finishing his run and I unintentionally started to pace a little with him. I let him speed up to his last 100 yards because I knew I still had over a half a mile. That last half mile I still kept a quicker pace because I just wanted to finish.
