Notes
Drove the kids down to Waterton for their long run this morning, hoping that the canyon would provide some reprieve from the heat wave choking Colorado. I knew I'd get at least 12 with the boys however, after a time crunch thanks to some logistical issues including arriving to the activity bus with 1/16th of a tank of gas, we were going to be pressed to get that in. Started with the guys and after a mile and a half, I doubled back to try to get Dario reconnected. He was riding the struggle bus early so after about a half mile together I took off to chase Ewan and Sam up ahead. I rolled pretty well on the uphill climb and really enjoyed the views (as always), and finally caught them just past 5 miles. We had been running uphill into a stiff headwind so when we flipped it was like getting rocket boosters. We ran casually all the way back down. Near the end, I ran into Eliza who was struggling and she said something bug bit her tongue, so once I got back to the bus I grabbed my phone and ran back up the Canyon to check on her. She was fine, just dying on possibly the longest run of her life, and to make sure I jogged the last half mile back with her. Solid run this morning, I wanted to run further but the time constraints made that impossible.
