Notes

Ottawa is 16 weeks out from today and we are starting the block out with a 2 hr depletion run. Really wanted to snack last night but held back and followed the rules. Richey set a pace range of 6:30 to no faster than 6:00. He also didn't want us to get down to the bottom of the range too quickly. So heeding the instructions, I planted myself at the middle of the group and tried to remind people to chill out. I finally lost the battle around mile 8 and there was a big split between the people that were dipping under that barrier and the group that was trying to manage the pace more responsibly. I chose the latter and bitched about it for a decent bit, joined in chorus with Brody and Jacob. We started from Lefthand and looped the 63rd/75th loop which meant we had to climb back up Niowt for about 4 miles. It was about this point, 1:25 into the run that I was feeling the depletion and had to focus to maintain the pace we had set forth miles beforehand. Frank was a chatter-box and annoying at times, but I still love the guy, the h-anger was just starting to get to me. Dropped Will and Sid off at the parking lot before embarking on an out-and-back toward Oxford. I was steadfast in my goal to not violate the pace cap but I accidentally ran a 5:59 on mile 17. I was faux-devastated and when I told Richey he said it was fine so I didn't feel bad about dipping under for the last couple of miles. Things held up well over the course of the run but the last 10-15 min was getting a little fuzzy around the edges and I really had to focus to maintain.
