Dun Laoghaire 10km race. Hilly course on a windy enough day. No taper down for this race so not expecting too much. Aiming for sub 40 mins but not realistic after my longest run of the year on Saturday (95 mins). Legs did feel pretty tired from the start but on decent pace for the first few miles. Very hilly in the middle 3rd of the race and lost a lot of time there - also lost a lot of energy. My plan was to really push over the last 2 miles as it was mostly down hill but I was shot at that stage - I struggle to increase the pace and didn't really make up any time towards the end. My HR was over 190 for the last mile or more and that was me at my limit - glad I was able to push so hard but a tough course, windy, not enough speed training and no taper meant that sub 40 mins was never really on. Felt good enough on the road itself and no achilles issues which was a relief. Decent but not spectacular race...
