12 Mile Loop

Notes

Nice long run on tired legs from my tempo run yesterday. Picked one of my favorite courses that almost mimics Boston. The first two miles are a long sweeping downhill then a short climb, then it's back downhill over the next 5 or so and it ends with 3/3.5 miles of steady climbing with 3 challenging hills thrown in (think Newton), ending at the beginning of the last mile with my "Heartbreak" known as Birch Brush Hill. My goal was to go out and run nice and relaxed making sure I hit my E Pace (10:33) or better for all of my splits, but not to get too carried away. I'm pretty sure I accomplished my goal. It was also my first run in my new Newton "Sir Isaac" trainers that I may use for the marathon. I'm also going to try out the Brooks Launch. The Sir Isaac's are definitely a TOTALLY different shoe than the Newton "Motus" that I've been training in. They're a bit heavier, but also "cushier' than the others. I also liked them better on the downhill sections as I didn't feel like my feet were pushing-outside and in danger of rolling over. These gave me a much flatter, fuller ride. At the same time they weren't nearly as responsive going up the hill's. Not nearly as much energy return and kick, I certainly had to work a lot harder to get up. But all-in-all a decent shoe that I can see myself going the distance in.
