My 2nd time in a spinning class. The first time was maybe a year or more ago when I took Robin's class at North. I couldn't walk for a week after that one. I am still battling chest congestion so opted to spin instead of run today, besides the wx is still so dreary. Figured this was as good of a time as any to give spinning another try. So, Robin went with me to South today. I got there first & the instructor helped me get set up. The gal next to me said that this was "RPM" and that "RPM" is much more intense than spinning. Great. Class started, Robin arrived and took the bike on the other side of me, and we were off to the races! It did start off rather gently, but we cranked up pretty smoothly. I worked hard, but attempted to keep the resistance reasonable for a newbie so I could still walk afterward. I might have succeeded as I was able to walk normally out of there. I haven't sweat that much since the last spinning class I took though. It is good hard work. There seemed to be several more recovery periods with this class, but I wasn't complaining. We were given the opportunity to stretch our arms out several times which really helped me a lot. Robin's legs twirl so fast I can hardly see them & I know I wasn't anywhere near to keeping up with her. The gal on the other side of me was slower though & she's been doing it for a while. I felt like I was close enough to her league. Both the instructor & Robin said I did well. The resistance is a subjective thing, but I did try to be fair & not too wimpy. The instructor did a good job of explaining what the various levels actually should feel like so perhaps I was at least close to the intent. It was good. I would have wished for the music to have been louder & the fans to have been ON. Other than that I am well enough pleased. Now, tomorrow will be the real test to see if I can walk or not.
